Brastel Card and SIM card now available at Meitetsu Chubu International Airport

The number of foreign travelers visiting Japan is rapidly increasing and for the first time, it surpassed the 12 million mark in 2013. This number is expected to increase even higher due to the Olympics in 2020.

In other countries, prepaid SIM cards can be easily found at airports, tourist information centers, and convenience stores, and it is becoming imperative to create a similar environment for foreigners visiting Japan.

Since October of 2014, Brastel Co., Ltd. and Internet Initiative Japan Inc. have developed and released the “Japan Travel SIM powered by IIJmio,” a prepaid SIM card that can be purchased with an initial 2GB data plan usable for three months.
The SIM card comes with a Brastel Card, which is rechargeable at convenience stores throughout Japan, credit cards, or PayPal. Users can use the Brastel Card for placing calls or use its credit to purchase an additional data plan for the Japan Travel SIM.

This communication package is now available at the Meitetsu Travel Plaza located at the Meitetsu Chubu International Airport. Travelers can easily purchase the SIM card by presenting a passport and they can start using without any troublesome setup.

As a next step, Brastel will be supporting the Meitetsu Tourist Group to expand its sales also in the Tokai area. In addition, taking advantage of Brastel’s strong point—multilingual customer support in more than 10 languages—we will continue to provide our “communication hospitality” for the visitors and allow the most pleasant stay as possible.
